00 GTP - The key will not turn all the way back to come out of the ignition. This started gradually (ie - if I turned it on and off and moved the shifter back and forth it would eventually come out) but not anymore. The car turns off but the key wont click back that one last notch. Can someone tell me where the release solenoid is so that I can get it out of there or something?

I can't say for certain but if you disconnect the battery it may release. It could also work the opposite way though. I'm guessing there is a problem with the shifter interlock communicating with the lock cylinder. That is just a shot in the dark though.

There should be a release on the underneath of the plastic collar were the ing. switch is. There is a little cover there it just pops off and the release is in there. Its talked about in the owners manual(for 97). Our key got stuck in there when the batt. was dead, couldn't get the key it out. 00 should be the same, check manual. P'CHOP smile smile

I thought the release there was for the shifter interlock, or, am I dead wrong?

The shifter unlock is next to the shifter on the right side( at least the 97 has one). The ing. key unlock is under the key switch. If you go to start the car and the batt is dead, you can't get the key out. You use this to do it. P'CHOP smile

This might be useless...

I had that problem when I first got my car, a pin in the ignition snapped. Unfortunately, that is all I know about the situation. I sent it right to my mechanic because I didn't want to deal with it. The bill came out to $110.

Good Luck

My 2000 gtp just started doing the same thing. Check your shifter button. Mine will stick when it is warm, but after the A.C. cools the car off it work just fine. I had to wiggle the shifter button a couple of times but it normally releases.
