Exactly how much power does a U Bend delete add? It looks like a fairly complicated mod, is it pretty easy to do yourself, or would I need to take it to a shop and get it done? Just wondering, cuz I noticed a lot of people have it done, I didnt know if it added a crapload of power and if it was easy to do or not. Thanks.

The best explanation I've seen before regarding this question is that deleting the u-bend doesn't really add much power at all, maybe 3-5hp at most, but rather it opens up the exhaust so that in conjunction with other exhaust mods it can free-up the potential for ALOT of power. Unless you have some welding skill and equipment you're better off going to an exhaust shop and having them do it for you. It cost me about sixty bucks, for labor and the replacement piece. I bought a replacement o2 sensor rather than expecting the old one to remove from the u-bend. Alot of people recommend just getting the o2 spoof instead of the actual sensor.

Exactly ,you can buy a premade piece from PFYC or have a muffler shop make you one up but if you buy a RAT DP you will kill 2 birds with one stone it eliminates the u-bend and you get a much better DP and hi-flow cat all at once and about 10whp to boot.

If you delete the ubend some flowmaster 40 series might go nice with that.
Chico, how much does the RAT DP cost and where can I look for one. Also does it have an o2 sensor or can i move the old one to it?

Hey Chico, will the RAT DP work with the 3.1L engine? I know it could modified to fit regardless, but would it work as is, or would it require some modifications?

here's a quick idea for you then, go to your nearest bank, they all have these credit card gift cards, just put enough money on it to buy the mufflers and then throw it away
its as simple as that

Do you have a bank account? if you do sign up for a paypal account you don't need a credit card ,as far as flowmasters go to a local speed shop they can order them for you or you could get magnaflows i believe midas carries them.

Hi, I went to a shop to get a quotation of deleting the U-Bend, but they don't know how to readapt the O2 sensor,, is there any link to a place of "how to" replace de U-bend step by step or something?, i want to print it a take it there so they can follow the specifications, cause when i ask to do that they seem to be surprised cause i want to delete the U-Bend (remember I'm in Mexico City) and no much knowledge about this car. Alex

First of all they will have to weld in a new oxygen sensor bung in the replacement pipe ,simpely cut off the pipe after the cat unbolt at the flange and measure this piece now cut a hole in your straight piece that you will use as a replacement lage enough to weld the bung in next cut off the flange and weld it on the replacement pipe now position the pie so the sensor is off to the side weld the end on to the cat and bolt up the flange and your done I know yhis sounds complicated but its simple .
