Each day when I start my car for the first time there is a loud grinding sound. Im thinking its the starter going, does anyone have any ideas? It also doesnt do it when the engine is warmed up.

Is the sound only when the starter is engaged or does it do for a few minutes after you release the switch.

Just when the starter is engaged, as soon as I turn the key. It only happens for about one second.
