I posted this here because the Buick area looks a little dead. I'm looking at a 98 Buick Ultra, with the supercharged engine. It has 75k miles. Since it's used and at a dealer, not from a private owner, I have no way of knowing if they ran premium fuel in it. Should I worry about that? Anything else I need to look for? What kind of maintenance is involved with the supercharger? I've never had a S/C'd car before. TIA!

you'd probably want to change the S/C oil. it's really easy aside from the smell.

You shouldn't notice anything if they ran regular unleaded fuel in it. If you do use regular unleaded, you may notice a slight decrease in performance due to the PCM adjusting for the fuel, no long ill effects.

Maintenance on it isn't much more then a NA car. You have one extra oil to change and extra belt to change when it's worn and when it starts making a rattling noise at idle a new coupler. All of which are an easy DIY job. As for the previous owner and premium fuel. Don't worry about it. Like Bobby said the pcm woulda pulled timimg and performance/mpg woulda been down while using that fuel. No long term or ill effects.

the car sounds like it hasn't been driven all that much or probably has been taken care of. the car being at least 7 years old, it only averages out to around 11k a year put on it.
