I had to fly 4500 KM's to the other side of the country and then drive her back for 51 hours non-stop, but as of last night, my GTP has a new "Garage Buddy", AKA "The Legend". It's a 1987 Buick Grand National, bone stock drivetrain, with the only mods being the exhaust and suspension.

So... Right now she's perfectly stock, so I figured a fun little experiment before the modding begins would be to see right now, who's the big dog of the garage.

I'll put them to the test Next weekend (With Video).

My mods on the GTP are in my sig, We'll run both cars from a stop and from a roll, and switch drivers to make sure it's not just the driver.

So... Any Predictions???? devilgrin

Should be close. I think the GNX pulls it out.

You should part out your car and give me dibs on your wheels. wink

Glad you found your car though!

Being on the street, my bet goes the to the GN.
If both cars could get a good dig, it would be close.... I still say the GN.

Unless I missed something, I would like to say that the Grand National being talked about hasn't been reported to be a GNX.
Did I miss something?
If so, you need not race that car!!!!.... wink

That's correct, it's a GN without the X. The GNX is next wink

Good catch. Sorry everyone for accidentally adding the "X" and causing confusion.

From the looks on that specs page the GTP and GN are pretty matched.

Something to ponder about in 87 "The Worlds Fastest Production Car" was only rated at 245hp.

If the GTPs were RWD the GN wouldn't be the sought after sports car it is today.

I always liked the looks of those 80s G bodys.

We raced the car 4 times. 2 from a dig, 2 from a roll. Basically the GN Destroyed the GTP. Neither of us are pro drivers, but it was quite clear, when both cars are WOT, the GN Pulls away quite quickly. and everytime it won from a launch.

We didn't shoot video, cause there were only 2 of us, but maybe next year after I mod the Grand National I'll shoot some.
