Alright guys, I am finally pulling the trigger on a set of wheels, I just can't decide what size I want.

My choices are 17x7.5 - 235/55/17 or
18x8 - 245/45/18

I don't want the mistake of getting 17s and then wanting to go up to 18s, but my concern is that the 18s look to big and/or won't ride well. I do a lot of highway driving and roads are bumpy up here in Jersey. I also plan on lowering the car about an 1" sometime in the near future.
What do you think?

What wheels specifically? Because they might look better in 18s.

With those, I'd go 18s. The 17 might be a bit too small, and it would look kinda stock, i think.

I figured this would be the response.

I'm lowering it and the roads in NJ suck so I just want to make sure that losing an 1" on sidewall isn't going to affect things that much.
I think that is more important to me than looks.

I have 17's and my car is lowered and there is plenty of room to put 18's in there.

18s it is....
I'm putting them on first day of spring.
Can't wait to put those stockers in the junkyard where they belong.

Drew, before you go and toss them things, are they the "dull" torque stars? If so, I would really like to buy one of them.

I'm going to pick up a nicer set of stock wheels from the late model (04+) GP for the winter time.

I just saw the new Nissan Maxima in the parking lot a work here - its got exactly the 245/45/18 combo...it does look nice.
Spring can't come fast enough....
