I am looking at some 18's for my GP GT and i was wondering, what tire and rim size should i get??? 225-40-18 235-40-18 245-40-18
What difference will it make if i get a wider or skinnier tire?

Get 245/45/18. Those are the closest size to stock for an 18" rim that will keep your speedometer and odometer as close to accurate as possible.

x2. Plus it will look a lot better, have more traction, etc.

with 40's maybe you will need to lower the car a little cause any smaller than 45 leaves much space in the fender.

Maybe you have to watch over the wide, but lets wait for the experts to answer on that.

In 245/45/18 the 18 is for the rim size.

245 is your tire width in millimeters

45 is the aspect ratio...meaning your sidewall height is 45% of your width

18 is your rim diameter

so to answer your question as long as you have an 18 inch rim the tires should work as long as your rim is wide enough to handle a tire that wide. Your stock GT rims are 16x7 ( 16 diameter x 7 wide) most aftermarket rims will be at least 7in wide while most will be 8in or wider. A 9 inch wide rim is the max size you can fit on a GP and that is plenty wide enough for 245 tire. As a matter of fact, 245/45/18s on 18x9 wheels is the exact setup I have on my car.
My wheels are AFS mustang Bullitts (38mm offset, for 05-up Mustangs) and Riken Raptor tires (made by BF Goodrich)) the ride is quite a bit stiffer but the handling is great and I love the look. check it out...

Hey,I like those overlays. Where did you get them. And where do get the pontiac overlays. I was going to get the same set of rims, only in 17's and didn't know where to get the pontiac emblems for the rims

I ordered the wheel centers from "Signs by Drex" who is now defunct I'm afraid...but I believe www.autobadges.com can hook you up with a set.

Talia can hook you up with anything vinyl.
She's in the GPN Photo Album. You can shoot her a PM, or go over to CGP and PM her there.

I need to get her to make me some GRANDPRIX.NET decals.
