You guys wouldnt believe what I was told last night by a guy who owns a rice burner. He said that all GP owners are arrogent and full of ourselves. This guy said that we think our cars are the best and nothing comes close and he said we think we own the streets. Now as far as I'm concerned I dont think that way at all. Theres room on the road for everyone and to me it dont matter what kind of car you drive as long as you like it and it gets you from A to B. Arrogent? Ya I feel a sence of pride in my car and knowing that its one of Americas best cars on the road makes me feel even better. But arrogent and full of myself? Na, not me. Its not my fault that I have a very clean, good looking Pontiac that I take a whole lot of pride in. Its not my fault that I'm part of a brotherhood of proud Pontiac owners who have pride in their cars as well. This guy was a complete idiot and if anyone is arrogent and full of themselves take a ride down University Ave in my area at night. Street racers galore with souped up rice burners. Now to me thats arrogent and everything else in between. I take pride in my Pontiac and if people want to believe I'm arrogent and full of myself because of my car then so be it.

What do you guys think? Are we really an arrogent bunch and full of ourselves? Or are we just guys (and gals) that love our cars and take pride in them?

Opinions anyone?

They are just jealous cause they have to put TIN CANS on for mufflers to hear some kinda engine noise smile

Our SC's dont need any TIN CANS to produce that lovely whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

BOOST FTMFW!

And they are probably mad at their parents for getting them that cheap a$$ import inplace of a fine piece of American machinery smile

Yeah I'm with you on this one. I have a 1997 GP GT and I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla. My friends are all for me "modding" my Corolla, but when I work on my GP and tell them what I want to do they freak out. "Why would you put any money into that car?" is usually the response and with a look of disgust.

I explain to them that there are more aftermarket products out there that will easily produce more horse power compared to the junk I would have to do to an import. 300 horse power is achievable in the GP while 300 horse power in my little foriegn car would cost me about $10000 if done correctly. So far I have spent about $800 for power adders on my Corolla and I might have gained about 15 horses, woo hoo. $800 is a cam and rocker arms and a DHP PCM for the GP.

Thats the other problem with these kids, they buy on the cheap. I have a Magnaflow cat-back on my Corolla and it wasn't cheap. It has a nice mellow tone and is only loud when when WOT and even then it aint too loud, can't even hear it when driving normal. Other guys buy the cheapest biggest exhaust they can find and bolt it up usually with exhaust leaks too. Some of these people have no idea what size pipe to get, what kind of intake to get, what horse power the stock internals can handle, what stock internals are, the list is endless.

Here is my 4 banging rice burner if anyone would like to see.

I have seen plenty of import tuner cars that were badazz custom rides. I gotta respect a turbo 4 banger that gets out on the track and cooks off some 12s. I may not like the sound and maybe not all the styling accents but someone poured a lot of hard work into a ride like that.

I think the rash you are getting is coming from some people who have nothing more on their mind but some kind of brand/type/fad loyalty...and thats all they have to fit in because they cant afford to do up a ride they way they would like, so anything that doesnt fit their "stereotype" (for lack of a better adjective) they rag on.

Maybe there are some arrogant GP owners they have come in contact with...sometimes I think the worst thing in motorsports is over-zealous brand loyalty. Like the NASCAR fans that hurl beer cans at a particular driver because he won a race.
I personally think drifting is one of the most useless sports I've ever seen (like figure skating for cars) but I dont deny it takes a potent machine and a skilled driver to do it...and if thats what turns your crank then go-baby-go.
I dont think GP owners are arrogant as whole and I think this board is shining proof of that.

GPs are great reliable cars, the owners or GP take pride in owning a good car. if thats called being full of ourselves then what the hell do you call ricers in their shitty hondas with a 200lb body kit and air intake.

BTW Nunrush i like what you did to your corolla. that custom grill looks pretty sweet.

I've got nothing against imports, except the people driving POS cars with a loud exhaust and nothing else. My Dodge is an import, made by Mitsu in Normal, Illinois. GP owners are no more stuck up than Stang or Camaro owners, or any other car with a decent following.

MY out look on it is. IS like Tbat said if you put the time and effort into working on your car and getting it to the point were its is now. Then you shouldn;t car what others are staying. The poeple who have a problem with us and our cars are the guys with the imports who can't do shit to there cars, and think the little stuff they have gives them 100hp. Just as a example last nite I was out with my friends and I pulled up nex to the volkswagon 1.8T. I started talkin to this kid and he said he si running 12.05 E/ts and hose over 300WHP with a K&N CAI and a turbo. I could stop laugh. I said " Bro there is not need to make your car out to whas its not. /c you and I both know you have no were near 300WHP and can do anything close to a 12.05. HE insised on it. so when the lite turned green we both hi the gas. I pulled outin front of him from the start and had him for at least a mile. Got to the next light and he said shit bro what do you have a 10 sec car. I could stop laughin b/c the kid was completely full of himself just b/c of the CAI. On the other hand if you put alot of shit into you car and you can do 12s in the 1/4 and blow my doors off I will be the first to get out of my car and shake the guys or girls hand and say nice ride. So yea I'm full of m self when I know I can be when it comes down to me getting my ass haned to me congrats you put some time and effort into you ride and you came out on top. And As a side note, were I live everywere you see Mustangs everywere and not one of them tries to put a fight. most of them wave as you drive past. or the only thing you say to eack other is nice ride or talk about mods. thats it. Its always the ricers, so who is the arronat ones and full of themselfs. Wow dont think any of that made sense but I had to get it off my cheast.

I have nothing against Imports take a look at the pic in my sig. Some of my best friends drive them. The only time I hate and despise them is when they come up and think that they have THE fastest car around. I mean I know my little se(3800 so not soooo little lol) is fast but when someone in a 68 Camaro pulls up beside me I turn down my AC/DC and give a thumbs up and talk a little with the guy at the light. The Import drivers known as Ricers will ( and I saw this yesterday out side Canadian tire were they had a classic car show going) Will pull up beside that same Camaro crank his rap and ACTUALY TRY AND RACE IT!!!!! Now can ya guess who won that one. So basicaly I have written alot to say driv your Honda but just be respectful of real power and don't think it's the fastest thing around.

hey being serious, Im as arrogant as the come and always will be. but i do control it, most ricers have nothing else but simulated speed or economy import going for them. I've only seen about 10 imports in my entire life that were true missiles. these coffee can soundin exhaust& ridiculous spoilers have ppl thinking that it should of been them on Fast&Furious.
I love the way grandprixs can change faces, I got a 'hood' one on 22s, Ive seen some mouthdropping GTPs on here that can easily roast the front tires beyond recognition, and even some clean& slammed prix's that are family sedans out by me.
in short say the kid is right, but atleast we have a reason to be

I'm arrogent...but only to arrogent people whom need to be brought down...i've got a buddie with a newer dodge...cummins diesel 4x4 that is pretty fast...but he has put so much money into that thing(perf. parts and replacement parts) and when he started braggin at me i told him let me put that kinda money into my gtp and then we'll see who brags....i don't think its really arrogence...it was just the truth...cause alot of my friends rides are alot faster than my car (2000 T/A WS6, two SRT-4's, and even an SRT-10) and i don't "brag" to them about my GTP but they do know i love my car...and i even had the pleasure of letting one of my tride and true mopar friends with a SRT-4 drive my car and he admitted it has more balls than he thought...i didn't say anything i just smiled...

Getting those imports doesn't make since to me. I mean, drop $5k in it, and maybe you've got the equivalent of an American V6. So, I'd rather get the American V6 or V8 and drop $5k in THAT.

I think most of those ricer boys can't handle the fact that an AMERICAN car out of the box will blow the doors off their lawn mower sounding crap boxes. I won't even play with them, I don't beat up on smaller kids. Come back when you got 2 more cylinders and a blower, cause that fart pipe and Pep Boys intake ain't gonna help you.

Agree with most of everything here.
I like to play with them, though. The look on their faces is priceless!!
"WTF did you DO to that thing!?!?"

" *cry*... I thought a jet was landing on my roof " (ok so that one didn't happen; csc joke)

LMAO! lol

I don't mind playing with them, though. Sometimes, when you roll up next to them, and they've got awful music blaring, and one of those arrogant looks, they need to be taken down a notch or two. And a sedan is the perfect car to do it in. wink
