yea yea your prob thinking about another dead beat exhaust thread haha.. no i am just thinking, ok i might be way out on a limb somewhere, but it just an idea and want to know your thoughts. this all started with a talk of a g8. Since that is designed as a true dual exhaust adding and x in between the two separate pipes makes the flow sound nicer and smoother. what i am thinking is taking out the res and having two pipes merge close to the cat or so and then in the middle before it swings to the outside to the muffler to add a x to equalize pressure in the two pipes. has this been done before? would the sound be smoother? or would you not even notice the slightest difference? please feel free to comment ....

Buy some pacesetters and toss the Y and make your custom X.

Well you'll need to run a dual first. Which would be quite the custom. Then put the X pipe in. But I doubt very much that you'll get what your looking for. There is much more involved with the sound then piping and muffs.

so by putting an x after the y would be pointless?

Yep.

The X is only for scavenging exhaust from one bank with the other.

By adding an X between the muffs and the Y would only add restriction.

I keep thinking of what larger diameter pipe would do for the exhaust sound. Maybe be like a megaphone or something.

One thing to remember though is the size of the boom in the combustion chamber makes the biggest difference. The 3800 is roughly .63L per cylnder in displacement and the 6.2 is .78L
