I have a quick question, I have a set of 2004 crome Grand Prix wheels, they are the fancy ones that sort of have a twist look to them, but my question is, that there is a lot of these rims out there, and alot of these have bad crome, coming loose on the back side and migrating to the front, now my question is was there ever a recall for these, I am surprised how bad the crome is on these rims . thanks...

I don't think so. Because pealing chrome really isn't a safety factor. Chances are they covered them under warrentee. If you bought em second hand your SOL.

You are not alone. I have seen other member have same problem last year. I don't think they will help to get new one. This guy got screwed so he went to custom wheel to get rid of crappy look wheel. Since you live in Michigan. I do know why they are peeling. It was winter salt cause that.

I have seen a few of the 04+ cars have the problem. Not sure if there is anything you can do about it, though.

It's not salt causing the chrome to peal. It's improper prep prior to chroming. You can thank mass produced at cheapest cost possible.

If the wheels are pealing and they are second hand or the vehicle is out of warrentee the only thing you can do is to have them re-chromed. But your pocket book might be better served just to find a replacement.

It's all in the quality of the chroming process I have Cobra R rims and they are a few years old and the chrome is flawless so chrome done properly will last .Chico(pops)

I've heard about these before and if the car is still under warranty, they will replace it because I think the newer gp's have the 5yr or 100,000 mile warranty I think, somebody correct me if Im wrong.

Those long term warrentees usually only apply to powertrains. Hard parts of engines, tranny and rear ends. I don't believe wheels would be covered.
