hey guys, been awhile i know lol sorry ive been in the process of moving off base and into a place of my own the last few months because i finally made petty officer, yay. i should be settled in in a week or so and ill be on here and back to the mod bug thats been itching at me the last 5 months because i had to buy stupid furniture and cable instead of go fast toys. ive been stopping by every few days but have been too busy to log in and post, sounds lazy i know.

anyway i lost my key fob during a MCMAP session earlier this week ago. i guess i landed on it when i was being thrown and the plastic part that holds the ring cracked and the fob fell out and into the grass/dirt. spent 2 hours looking for it until finding broken plastic pieces in my BDUs and another 30 min in that grass.

i have a spare i got from my grandfather that has the 1997 gtp and i tried to sync it to my car but when i follow the steps it dosent beep when the steps say it should and it dosent work at the end of the process either. the dealer wants 60 bucks to sync it themselves which i think is bull if there just doing exactly what im doing right now.

funny part to end the post:

for the last few days ive been climbing in and out of my window dukes of hazard style because my alarm would go off every time i unlocked the car with the keys in the keylock. had to leave my window open in the winter too. good thing i have a tarp to lay over it lol

Couldn't you just use your key to unlock your doors instead of going in your window lol!

You'll need to get the correct remote for your year GP in order to program it: 01-03 Grand Prix Remote Your best bet would be to contact the GM dealer's parts dept, give them your VIN, and they can give you the correct part number.

thanks guys, yea im an AC3 now. its nice not having to clean crap all the time. More time to controll aircraft and get my CTO in afew weeks.

So your saying i cant use the 1997 fob with my 2002. thats too bad, would have saved 60 bucks that way. the dealer said he needs 60 bucks for a new keyfob and 60 i think as well for the programming.

is the dealer doing the same proceedure as me with programing the key fob or do they do something diffrent ?

The dealer told me the same thing when I wanted to get an extra key fob. I bought a new one off Ebay for less than the dealer wanted, looked up the instructions, and programmed it myself.

Here's the instructions from the link in my previous post:

PROGRAMMING

2001-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix

+++ Do this in order to replace or add a transmitter or when your system malfunctions

1. Remove key from ignition

2. Remove the MALL PGM fuse, from fuse box.

3. Close doors

4. Turn your ignition to ACC position.

5. within 1 second… turn ignition to OFF, then back to ACC

6. Open & close driver’s door, the system will sound a chime to let you know you are in active programming mode.

7. Now… you need to HOLD the LOCK & UNLOCK buttons on your remote until the chime sounds, for about 15 seconds.

8. Repeat #7 for each remote to be programmed ( Maximum of 4)

9. Remove key from ignition.

10.Refit MALL PGM fuse

11.NOTE - existing remote memories will be overwritten

12. Obtain and reprogram all any existing remotes

13.Additional feedback settings can be set to respond to the remotes.

Note: a maximum of 4 key fobs can be programmed on these vehicles

^^^I wouldn't pay the dealer $60 to do that.. wink
