Did buick do away with the strut tower brace for 04?

My father was out looking for a regal to replace his century, he looked at an 01 LS and it had the bar, but the new 04 LS he ended up with DOESNT have the strut tower bar. After all these years of putting it on, why would the stop in the last year. Cant be a cost saving measure the damn thing only costs about $20 retail.

Thanks tallpaul, any idea if the holes are still there if my dad wants to add one later, or will he just have to drill them out like I did the GP?

Just curious. thanks

Your dad has the new car ask him if the holes are there.

He ended up buying it and I checked and no the holes arent there. GM says the bar isnt needed anymore. which is BS because I doubt they did anything to the car to stiffen the chassis on the last year of a car they killed.

How many buick owners do you know that would notice the handling difference with or with out the STBs so ya I agree with GM that they aren't needed. With the driving I do I didn't notice a change when I installed the STBs on the front and the rear.

I agree with you Herc, they wouldnt notice, but why just leave it off and pretend they did something to eliminate it other than just not put it on. Why put it on in the first place. Hell the GTP should have had it all 7 years not Buick.

I put em on too and I did notice a difference with the front when the car still had the original springs and shocks. After the GMPP stuff, I didnt notice much if any difference with it on or off.
But cant hurt right
