if you mean the same ride height, then the closet you can get without new rims would be like a 235/55R16. if you go with some new rims there a lot more options availible which would depend on if you stayed with 16s or go to 17s

no u missed the point, i want a wider tire, with out changing the DIA of the tire..

the closest i found are a set of 245 55R 16, a little wider and yet the same DIA as the original

no you missed what i said, the ride height is detremined by outside diameter, the inner diameter is just the rim size. you merely said the same diameter which isn't all that helpful because there are mulitple ways to look at it for the diameter. if you don't care about the outer size then you can find 225/55R16, but if you do want the same outer 235/55R16 is going to be closer then the 245/55R16

trust me you line the two up to each other they will be very close in outer diameter, but the width of the 235 will be bigger. the 235 will be wider the what you have now.

the other thing is the brand you want may not carry a particular size. the 245 is a little easier to find then the 235, but the 245 is going to be outside the sizing that i can recomens, cause it is likely to wear out in the middle faster then they are supposed to, and that means the tires won't last as long

Yeah, to futher qualify what he said, if you get 17 rims, you could get a lower profile tire, keeping the diameter the same... you really can't get much wider with stock rims, and keep the same diameter.

You will need some after market rims, and if you are going to spend the $$$ on rims, why not move up to 17's in the process? Get some rims (tirerack.com) 17x7.5. You can go 235 / 45 or 50 and you will be good.. or in the ball park.

Go to a local tire dealer, and they will tell you the same thing..

Wider is about at its limit for your rims. The diameter of the rim is bubkis, you need to be concerned with the diameter of the WHOLE tire not just the rim.. the height is the rim diameter PLUS tire height, keep that in mind.

If you increase diameter of rim, you will have to lower the profile of the tire to compensate to keep the WHOLE tire the same size.. which keeps your speedo the same, and odometer.. etc..

You want the same revolutions per wheel as you do now.. probably 700 rpms per mile. to do that, you need to find an equitable rim with lower profs tires, to give you that ~700.
