Hello, Im new to this forum, was reading a few posts but cant really find exactly what Im looking for.
I seen a private seller selling a 2004 GP GT, with 51k miles for $10,9
The blue book on this car seems to be $10,7
Its in excellent shape, with new tires, brakes, inspection etc
Ive never owned a grand prix, but have always liked them alot..
Is 51k for the 3.8 high mileage? Ive read that the 3.8 is a very reliable engine, is this true?
I may go and look at it this evening, and take it for a drive.. what should I be looking/listening for?
Thanks

Street Racer,

Did you look at the GP?

I have an 04 GT (with sun and sound package) that turned 95,000 miles today. I have had the car for a year and I knew the guy who bought it orignally. All that has been done to this car is normal maintenance. Oil changes every 5000 miles, one set of new tires, one set of brakes (pads only - rotors are still original), and trans fluid change at 60,000. It runs like a top.

Personally, I like the look of the 97-03 car better but looks are a subjective thing. I love the way this car drives and the seats are some of the best OEM seats I have ever experienced (and I have had several Porsches and BMWs over the years).

Go drive it and of the service records support the owners calims, buy it.

Don

Thats not a lot of miles these cars don't break in until 75,000 miles(lol). But just keep regular maintenence and change all the fluids once a year except coolant unless theres some type of problem with it. Im at 143,000 miles and still going strong.

Its probably good to skip the first year of a new model. Look for a 2005 or 2006. They might have worked out some bugs by then....
