I have a 98 GTP coupe and an 06 GXP. Recently I began to hear a noise in the GXP that sounded like it was in steering column. I took it into the dealer while it is still under warranty to see what it was. They replaced the steering gear assembly and the noise did go away. However, it "feels" much different than before. It does not seem to have the road feel that it had before, almost like it has too much power steering. I wonder if the steering gear for the GXP is the same as a base GP and if so did they put the wrong gear assembly in. Anybody know if there is a difference?

Sounds like the problem was the steering shaft between the column and the gear, they must have replaced the shaft with the gear, it also sounds like the rack is a different ratio then the one they took out. i would ask the for the part number they put in and compare it to what the car came with.
