Mass Pike Fastlane and NY/NJ EZPass require license plate transponders instead of the internally mounted windshield ones for certain cars that have some weird glass chemistry. My '02 Bonneville was in that category, and evidently so was the 2000-03 GP. Those agencies haven't even heard of the '04 GP yet, so they don't know if the internal transponders will work, but they prefer them for several reasons which aren't relevant here. My question is, does anyone know if the '04 GP has that same requirement as the '03?

My EZ Pass works fine in the windshield of my 2000 GTP.I was told it would not work in my 2002 Z06 Corvette but it works fine.I will try it in my 2004 GTP in a few weeks after the side air bags start to come in and those Comp Gs start to roll in.Dealer told me this morning May 1st
Thanks

Ray - Hope you're right about the SIAB. The official website still lists it as N/A, last updated 4-11-03. We'll see if your dealer has better info or is just feeding us lines (never happen! :p )

Also about the EZ-Pass question, I sent an e-mail question about it through their website, but have not heard back yet (another amazing yet true story! :p )

I've never had a problem with EZPAss in my 99 Grand Am GT, but I don't know if the windshield is similar to the GP. Is it due to slope or materials within the windshield?

It's something in the material, according to EZPass:

"The vehicles listed below are equipped with special windshields that may contain metal in the glass(metal oxide) that prevents the E-ZPass tag from being read properly. Windshields with solar ray glass, solar tint, heated or heat reflective windshields, and insulated or Insta-Clear glass may also affect the tag being read properly. Customers with these windshields might need to obtain exterior tags."

I've had my 2004 GTP for almost 4 weeks now and have been using my Smart Tag in Northern Virgina with no problems.

I was wondering if the price of gas has slowed down the sales of supercharged vehicles? I figured it would cost me about $200 more a year in gas for the GTP.

Hello,

Call me anal, but, unless you put around 100K on your car a year, you aren't going to paying $200 more for gas at 30MPG, vs. 28MPG. That's with Premium at $2.00, and Plus at $1.80. If you do put 100K on your car every year, sorry for the bother.

Later now,

And, not that I would, but the 2004 allows you to use regular gas (obviously with reduced power).
