Since I've had my new CompG, I've been suffering from RBGM(really bad gas milage). My 03 GTP averaged 28+ mpg. My 04 only averaged 20 since the day I got it. Yesterday I installed the Wizaired CAI that used to be in my 03 with a little modification. I also changed my oil to Mobil 1, 0 w30, full synthetic. And finally, I pumped up my tires to 41psi. What's my milage now? Well I took a hundred mile road trip today; mostly highway but with some stop and go and a couple of hills and twisties. My average mpg was 26.8. That's a big frickin difference. As far as the CAI; I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but holy night and day Batman. I really felt a bump in power. No joke. Big difference and it sounds awesome. Even better than it did on the 03. Here's a pic:

The CAI should have lowered your mileage since it introduced more air into the system and the computer compensating by sending more fuel. However, your driving habits may have changed because of the more power. The tires and oil probably made a difference also. I caution against using the 0W30 for a few years as the "0" may be too slippery for the GP engine.

I have the thrasher CAI. Those do make a big difference and give it that Darth Vader sound.
