I wonder if it's the same ZL1 from 69? If it is it's an all alluminum 427. Believe it or not the motor weighs less then a SB 350.

I remember reading about the engine itself when it was brought back out. What was the original L67 or something? It was offered as a crate motor and pretty much a copy of the original. Don't remember any factory cars hitting the street with that engine setup.

Way back in 1969, Chevrolet released 69, that's right, sixty nine ZL1 equipped Camaros

This ZL1 appeared a few years ago as an experiment in power.
It lead to the release of the 1996 Camaro Z/28 SS. (Factory optioned Z-28 did not have the ZL1)

In the course of the past six years, the ZL1 has been tweaked and fine-tuned as it evolved into the SEMA show car for 1999.

8.4-liter aluminum-block pushrod V8 making a foot-stomping 770 horsepower at 6900 rpm and a raucous 683 lb.-ft of torque at 5200 rpm.

How's that for a street legal hot rod?
