On an up note I just had to mention that back in May of 2000 I met my wife face to face for the first time. After months of emails and phone calls we finally split the distance between VA and NYC and met in Maryland and spent the day together.
Then after much travel back and forth to the Big Apple, enduring the heartache of 9/11 and the seemingly endless of hashing out plans, we finally tied the knot on April 27,2002.
In a full on Celtic wedding, complete with kilts and bagpipes we paraded from our chapel to our reception at Snug Harbor on Staten Island.
The wedding felt dream like and this life has felt like a fairy tale romance ever since. Sure we have had a disagreement or two, but certainly nothing worth losing sleep over. The benefits have so far outweighed any downsides as to make them easily forgettable.
This weekend marks our 6th anniversary and its one of those things where I cant believe that its been this long, while at the same time it feels like I have been here with her all my life. Maybe life really did start over when I met her.
I have mentioned on more than one occasion about how she gives me virtually no grief where my car is concerned and I am incredibly thankful for that. Had I still been with my first wife, I'm quite sure I never would have reached the point where I have with my GP much less owning two cars.
I may have posted this before but I think it bears repeating. There are three things a man of my age has truly come to appreciate...
1) a well mixed libation that settles the nerves
2) a spirited sports car to handle the curves
3) and a woman that loves me more than I deserve
I dont use number one very often and I dont think I would have number two without number three. I dont know what I did to deserve number three but I cant say enough about how thankful I am that she is in my life.
Heres hoping each of you can find this kind of happiness in your lives
