What do you guys recommend for things you HAVE to see?

I thought about Hoover dam, but I'm going to be there on business, and I probably will only have the evenings to go site seeing. I'm guessing the Hoover dam's tours will be closed by the time I could make it there.

I'm thinking about flying in on the saturday before the Super Bowl (because I'd like to watch a Super Bowl in vegas and put money on the game, etc). If I change my plans, then I might see the Hoover dam that weekend before my work starts.

I was hoping for ideas on the strip that I could do...

I don know just walking down the strip you can see the fountains at the Belagio, the volcano, the pirate show at treasure island. I think the coaster on the needle one closes at midnight and the coaster at NY,NY closes at 10 or 11. There's a balloon ride at the paris one. Plenty of gambling to say the least.

Not sure if the Imperial Casino/Hotel is still there or even if they still have their "secret" car collection on display anymore, but I've always heard that if you ask any of the dealers about it they will tell you what floor it's on and give you a pass for it. It's not anything that's advertised and I've never done this or have seen it but I've always heard about it.

You gotta go on top of the tower casino and ride that thing that sends you over the edge. You'll never get my sissy butt on that thing, but you might enjoy it.
Go downtown (Freemont st), I've heard the light show on the canopy is pretty neat.

Yes, that is an interesting show. The wife and I saw it when we went there for our honeymoon, 12 years ago. Dinner and a show. You get to eat without untensils, just like they did back in the medieval times. The dragon soup was pretty good, and if I remember correctly you get a cornish game hen to knaw on while the show is going on

Mandalay Bay has a walk thru aquarium and its own resort beach...the Venetian is like walking into Italy complete with gondola rides...all in all, plenty of sights to see and things to do besides gambling...but even I'll take a stab at the million dollar slot machine.

I've been brushing up my blackjack and learning what to do in different scenarios by playing free online tutorials.

In one, you start with 1,000. I got it up to $3000 tonight before I got bored. Of course it's always easier with fake money. I'd be ecstatic if I walked out of Vegas up 2k though.

when i was in grade school we lived 3 hours from vegas and my parents would go about once a month and every other month me my brother and sister would get picked up from school early on fridays and would then drive to vegas and would spend the weekend at circus circus. One time my mom went with a co-worker a couple of months after he had a stroke she called my dad and told him that on her first nickle on the nickel slot she won the jack pot $6xx.00 dollors my dad then ordered a complete set of golf clubs before my mom even left vegas. no

The first time I went to Vegas, I was 18-19, we were staying at the Aladdin. We found a quarter slot machine that was taking nickels. We kept one of us at that machine, taking turns so noeone else would get on it. we ould put nickels in and win quarters. It finally got to a point that we won all the quarters out of it, so it started dumping all our nickels out, looking for quarters to count. It wasn't counting the nickels as they were being dispensed. as soon as we emptied the machine of all coins, we got the heck away from that machine.
