While in park and neutral, the vehicle has a rev limiter of about 4k RPM so you dont blow your engine.

While at a run, I would say it might be time to change your tranny filter. That is almost like the valve bodies are sticking. I would wait until someone else has a chance to give their opinion on your shifting issue.

check the color of the fluid... your tranny might be saying good bye

Either that or you need a new catalytic converter? When it gets to the high RPM's does it just stop accelerating?

What speeds are you hitting? If you are just cruising up to those speeds or going WOT your shift points are different. So you need to know which one and at what speed it is supposed to shift to see if it is actually a problem.

Iirc a stock PCM under WOT won't upshift until approx 5800 rpms.

I was wondering the same thing, when i am sitting still i can only rev to 4k, i thought it was a problem. What does WOT mean?

i kind of have that problem too, i will rev to about 4 or 5K and then let off and it shift into a neutral type thing and i can rev it again to about 3K rpm and then it will like pop into second? Idk but i had the tranny rebuilt a couple of years ago, i dont think it is messed up again. I think that im fine but idk, am I???

As per the revs in P and N its the rev limiter, but ur High RPM hold while driving ..yah Tranny forsuretake it in and get a flush, but I would change filter first, if that does not help, look at the price of a new tranny, or a rebuild frown

Not a flush, no!! Just drain and change filter and refill with new stuff!

Not tryin to step on toes but I wopuld recommened the flush, will remove dirt from valves and torque converter. It is said u dont even have to change filter when u do a flush..I dont agree, but the new fluid is pushed in the system backwards. U can also add a BG cleaner and after the fluid change add a BG softshift.
Just my insite smile

Nice,

These trannies do not like to be flushed. Unless it's a regular service. On higher mileage 4T65s 9 times out 10 a flush only makes things worse.

That's why we always recommend just a filter change.

if the tranny was done wouldnt i not be able to drive at all??? i mean the car runs fine except when it gets to high rpms. i dunno... so majority saying that i should just try a new filter change.?? can it be something with the gears?? like maybe stripped or something. cuz its almost like its not keching
