clunking sound ????

I have a stange clunk un the left front wheel when I hit a bump (not all the time). I jacked the car up and checked all the regular stuff ( tie rods , control arm, sway bar etc) can't seem to find anything loose. My question is ; will the struts make strange sounds like that if they are going bad ? any help would be appreciated.

when i got my gt it felt really floaty like a boat. so i bought the KYB struts all the way around. when i was taken the upper strut assy. of the strut the rod fell down to the bottom. it was really messed up. my car rides like a new car. only problem is the strut mounts that go to the body need to be replaced so eventually im gonnna do that and springs. any questions on this just emial me. this is a really simple project just takes a little bit of time. evil98gt@yahoo.com
