Just though it was something interesting to share. Anyone have this problem or know of someone who has?

this is a lesson to everyone...change your injector o-rings!

Definetly! My car was about 5 years old when I changed out my injectors, and some of the O rings looked terrible.

It doesn't take long to do, and even if it did, it may save you a fire!

Yea, I'd heard about this when I got my car. And it doesn't really surprise me, that beast gets HOT!

How hard is it to change the o rings?

its easy. just remove the fuel rail. 4 bolts. Pull up real hard on it and the injectors will come out. O-rings can be found at autozone.

BTW- do the tops and the bottoms!

How many O-rings do you need to change them all?

And this may sound dumb, but where's the fuel rail? lol

this just a GTP thing or does it effect the GT's too?

It says a "...rate 13 times greater than that of their naturally asiprated counterparts..." so I'm assuming it's more prominant in S/C cars but I have no doubt in my mind that it's a problem in N/A 3800's as well.

I wonder maybe the blower is what's causing the escaping fuel mixture to ignite?

How hot do your blowers get guys, do you ever touch them after you've had the car running for a while?

Before you remove the fuel rail, throw a rag over the schrader valve on the fuel rail and release the pressure first. Gas will spray out of the schrader valve, just make sure you soak it up with the rag as it's coming out.

12 in all. 6 for the tops, 6 for the bottoms. the fuel rail is the thing right on top of your supercharger

Oh, ok. Thanks. That should be pretty easy.

Hey, I don't know if anyone saw it or not, but if you click on the link in that article, it also says that 2000-2002 Grand Prix's are being investigated for "LOSS OF BRAKE LAMP ILLUMINATION"

Has anyone had that problem?

Very hot. I can't hold my hand on it for longer then a couple seconds or so before it will burn me.

They get really hot. I always take a bag of ice with me to the track to aid in cooling the blower off in between runs.

Well then I'd say there's a good chance that the blower is itself one of the major causes of these fires. That added ambient has got to be bringing the leaking fuel well near the flashpoint.
