might be a cat clogged, sounds like the same symptom I had when I had to replace mine.

When it stutters does it straighten out while you still have your foot on the gas?

I've heard of a bad MAF sensor causing a similar problem.

Do you have any SES codes that pop up when this happens? if you see the SES light flashing then stop when it stutters, take it to autozone and have them read the codes for you.

You can't read codes unless the SES light is currently on.

you can pull codes even if the light is off, happend to me a few times, saw it blanking and would turn off after about 2 min, got codes read while light was off.

Might be the MAF, mine would choke on itself when I was accelerating above 40mph and then be fine. Stuck a scanner on it and noticed that the MAF readings kept dropping to zero every so often.

yep, the OBDII has something like a 5 trip memory. As long as you dont turn the car off/lock, then back on 5 or more times, you should be able to pull the codes, even IF the SES light is not illuminated.

Re: tranny problem? - 06/14/07 06:11 PM

so how do i get it read for codes? because autozone only does it if the car is running and the code is on.. mine doesnt throw the code, but does it daily.. so could it be bad maf or cat?

Just goto autozone, ask to have the codes read on ur car, they will bring the scanner to your car (its hand held like the size of a palm piolt) and they will turn the key to the on poistion, the scanner will pop up code numbers, they will go inside and give you a printout of those codes. takes about 5 min to do, and its VERY useful info to tracking down ur problem

Yah, they shall do it. So of them like getting out of the store to mess with cars. Just shoot up there and get it done. Tell them you saw a light anyways.

Pick up a can of MAF Sensor Cleaner at the auto parts store.

Re: tranny problem? - 06/16/07 01:54 AM

dumb question but is it inside the throttle body or where exactly is it?

Re: tranny problem? - 06/16/07 08:39 AM

Figured it was the MAF (or MAP?).

It is the black part on top of the throttle body. Two ways to clean it.

1) Take the screen off the throttle body. Try not to damage that screen. Spray away.

2) Use a torx screw driver to remove it. Clean it. Reinstall.

You could buy a new one ($125) which I did and regret. Should have just cleaned the old one.

Yeah I did the same thing, which was a bad call... I ended up returning it after 2 months for being defective. Try using some electronic parts cleaner on it
