My Heads up is fallng asleep. - 08/23/05 03:28 PM

I have noticed that my heads up display has begun to randomly brighten and dim as I am driving. It clears up for a while if I shut it off and then reactivate it. It has been checked 3 times at the stealership and I am informed it falls within spec. Any ideas? I have ensured its well grounded and all conections appear secure.

Make sure the sensor is clean and clear of any debris or anything that can cause it to be covered.

iirc sometimes there is a "cold" solder joint inside the HUD and you have to take it apart and resolder the connection. Don't remember which one it was.

Pretty easy solution if you are mechanically inclined.

Hello,

The light sensor is known to have a "cold solder" joint. I've repaired a few in my local club with great success. There is one or two that did not solve the problem.
Your symptoms sound like you have a good candidate for the solder repair.
