Favorite oil for 3800

Whats do you guys like for 10w30, Valvoline or Pennzoil?? Any preference??

Mobil 1 or Castrol.

Mobil 1 synthetic.

Pennzoil is crap.

I use Mobil 1 Synethetic, but lately reading around sounds like its going down hill or is less in quality, that's jus the word. I just change mine regularly and before its usually time.

Royal Purple FTW.... looks like im the odd man out.

Mobil 1 has switched to a group 3 base instead of group 4 PAO base. It's not a "true" synthetic now, just a highly refined mineral oil. That is according to the folks over at bobistheoilguy.com. It's still good stuff, I've used it in my GTP since it hit 500 miles and it's almost to 55k now and it's been running on alky since 40k miles and 11 months ago.

Who still runs group 4? Anyone mainstream?

I've always used 10w30 Castrol GTX, and a fram oil filter. I change it religously every 3 months, even if I've hardly driven the car. Looks like I'm in the minority.

Most of Amsoil's product lines are group 4 base.

I've been using Mobile 1 for forever now with WIX filters.

I'd use Royal Purple though, if it were cheaper.

mobile 1 along with a fram extended guard filter... i am thinking about running royal purple and then changing my oil every 6000 miles but idk

always thought my mileage might be too high to switch over, also i don't want my stupid novi seal to give me any issues leaking.

I only use Valvoline in my car. Its all I have ever used in any of my cars as a matter of fact.

I use RP but I think any brand name synthetic changed on a regular basis will be fine .Chico(pops)

Mobile 1, I figure good enough for a corvette good enough for my GTP. And it is the best product on the market tryed and tested. They dont need to spend bull shit money on advertising. Dont know if u guys use additives, but I use a BG product called MOA, u can extend ur oil changes to 10000kms and BG will stand behind it. I have heard and seen some amazing shit with this product, helps keep internals clean. I know sounds like a sales pitch but I use it in my other GP that is a 475000kms so I trust it
