LC-1 wideband O2 installed. - 09/30/07 01:38 AM

Just thought I'd post to say I installed the wideband kit today.
I opted to go ahead and replace the front O2 with the wideband (instead of the rear O2 like other cat-less people) for a few reasons:
1. Wire length
2. Positioning of rear bung exactly what Innovate recommends NOT to use (between 3-9 o'clock).
3. I liked the idea of using simulated narrowband output.
So basically the LC-1 controller box has a wideband output (0-5V linear) and a simulated narrowband output (0-1V sharp curve at 14.7 AFR).
There were a few tricks to install it, so if anyone plans on doing it, I can let you in on the easy way. It wasn't bad at all, though.

So far, I'm noticing the simulated narrowband signal jumps a little more extreme than the stock setup. Instead of jumping around 200-900mV, I see it jumping from 50-1100mV. It probably has the same effect, since the PCM just averages the high/low pulses anyway, but my fuel trims are a little more negative now. I haven't interfaced the wideband with the Power Tuner yet, just on its own into the laptop serial port. Thats another day.
So the real test is driving downtown Monday... I'm hoping my fuel economy will improve! It looks like it may.

Wideband results? My tune is actually spot-on for the most part. 11.5 AFR at WOT usually; not bad. A periodic spike of 10.x in some situations. I'm gunna try and lean it out a tad once fuel trims settle down.
I got to waste a Plymouth Sundance (2.5L l4, DOHC, turbo) quite easily during the test drive. I used to drive one of those but not turbo'd.

I haven't been using it for more than 30 minutes or so, but overall I'm really glad I picked up this wideband.

Don't feel stupid, I'm a little vague on wideband also, and I'd like to know as well.

My O2 sensor has never liked my downpipe, no matter what brand was in it, so this is intriguing.

It comes with a Bosch, though.

it's a wideband Bosch sensor though, so by default it's gonna be a thousand times better than the Bosch narrowband sensors

I've been wanting one of those suckers for a long time now. Just keep spending my money in other places. eek crazy

Be real nice for tuning purposes. Is that Narrowband O2 Simulator still working nicely for ya? That was the one thing I wasn't sure about any of them, but seeing as it's more sensitive over the entire range, I'm thinking now that it would definately be better for that sort of thing.
