top swap is finished!! 56k you only wish!!!

well, as the majority of you know, I have been collecting parts for the last few months and I have finally finished my top swap!!

From this experience I have learned to not cheap out on any parts and buy quality from the get go. I bought the pacesetter knock off headers and yes, THEY DID NOT FIT!! So, after learning that lesson, i had to spend another $450 to go and buy a set of TOG's from a guy in Milwaukee (wow was i lucky lol), but any ways, it was definately an interesting experience and I too have fallen victim to the horrible effects of dexcool (i forgot to take pictures). I did replace all the coolant with preston 50/50 mix and all is well. I am just in the final stages of finally getting everything tuned in properly and I will soon be installing RSHutchinson's intercooler as well, so that I can prevent knock even better!

The swap took a little over 2 days, due to the fact that I didnt have the right headers and I had to wait for the guy in milwaukee to respond to my messages on clubgp.

We did although run into a couple problems, my BRAND NEW Taylor 8MM wires took a crap on me and decided to help throw 142 misfires along with the plugs taking a poop on me also. So, i had to go and buy new plugs and wires. I will NEVER use Taylor products again!!! ZZP 10.3MM FTW!!!!!!

So are you not getting anymore misfires? Any issues?

i get misfires ONLY at idle but than once im driving they go away. So, im thinking that my coil packs are taking a dump on me.

idk what i am going to do with the other headers. there was supposed to be a guy that was going to take them for $175 but hes not sure.

if someone wants them, they can have them for $175 plus shipping, they will need to be refitted though, just a fair warning to anyone that may be interested!!

I still need to tweak everything, i now have to buy a brand new BBV because i went cheap and bought a used one! Dang everything is going wrong today!! UGHH!!!!

well, funny thing! haha my bbv was working perfectly, and somehow when he uploaded zzps tranny tables for the gt, it sent a signal to the bbv to pretty much shut it off. we couldnt figure it out. so he came back today and put in a different tune and the original bbv still works. so, now i have a brand new one coming from zzp.

yes, those are pretty much all the pics that i have. everything else is pretty redundant.

People still bother with ZZP tranny settings? I didn't think that anyone used that crap anymore.

not anymore i dont. i put different settings in there.

What settings do you have now?

Oh yes. it will happen.

stock gt tranny settings with the pressure bumped up a little.

did you put in a shift kit?

no, but if i didnt up the pressures, I was told the tranny would start slipping.

they both have their trade offs but upping the pressures is good.

less wear on clutches means more stress on hard parts. It won't slip, it will just break.

well, we will see where the road leads

There's tons of changing that can be done for your liking and performance in the tranny tables Tim!

well done boss!...I can tell if I ever want to pull this off I'm going to have to find someone local who can do the tuning or I'll be screwed.

Good work ! but you know it wo'nt be long you'll be thinking of cam ect. thats why I suggest when considering a Top Swap you pull your engine and at least refresh all gaskets and seals and why not add a cam and paint everthing ,and ThunderBat tuning not that big of issue get a ZZP canned tune to start then get a dyno tune money well spent.Chico(pops)

i think im going to up my pulley size to a 3.8 just until i do some more mods to it. I dont wanna take the chance of something bad happening to the motor with the 3.6 pulley.

I have headers, rockers, 180 tstat and a hai. Remember I have the higher compression bottom end, i think im just going to do the 3.8 and have the timing advanced and make the same amount of power that way, until i intercool and do other things.

Well, i originally didnt want to tune it like that, but after hearing many sides of the story, i have decided to go that route. My ORIGINAL plan was to run the 3.5 pulley, but decided to swap wit my friend and go the 3.6 route. Well, i still am going to go higher and stick with the 3.8 until i go intercooled and such.

Maybe you'll listen to me next time. lol.

Run the 3.6. U got a scan gauge, watch for kr. Get a better tuner also, sounds like he's blah
