another possible fueling issue.... :( - 08/09/09 04:09 PM

ok, so today i decided to keep an eye on my ltft's because i was getting random spurts of KR everywhere. So, as i was watching them, i notice while coasting i was reading -22.1 ( normally i am around -16.4 ). Then I gave it a good amount of gas and i was only down to -13.2(normally closer to -5). So, i went WOT and i was only at -2.3(normally between +2 and 0 ). Than i decided to just drive normal and out of nowhere the ltfts spiked up to +13.2 and dropped immediately back down to -13.2 to -16.4.

Is my fuel pump going bad or am i just imagining things? Because I have a brand new NA quick change fuel pump sitting in my basement, just never installed it.

I think your tuner sucks.

Those trims should lock in at 0.

This is one of the reasons I hesitate to top swap my car...all these tuning issues I keep reading about. Call me lazy but I want to be able to set the car up and actually enjoy driving it (like I do now) all this constant fiddling reminds me of old aggrevating Holley carbs.

well it was fine, and i do enjoy driving it. It would be soo mch easier if i knew how to tune, but i dont and i dont have time to learn how to tune either....just have to suffer with it i guess....

Vac leak. Bad gas. Weather. multiple issues can be at play. Retune even.

Fuel pressure should be 48-55 psi at the fuel rail, with the key on and the pump running.

well i went around to the local shops and they all wanted between $15-$25 to have the fuel pressure tested. I asked one of the shops why they are charging $25 to do a simple fuel pressure test. The guy said, "well we normally charge $80 for a diagnostic and plus my guys time to do the test.". I said "ya, well it only takes you 5 minutes IF that to simply hook the gauge up to the fuel rail and your going to charge me $25 for that, no thank you." He goes, "well we could work on the price, probably go down to $10-$15 depending on the difficulty." I laughed and walked out.

You can rent a fuel pressure tester from Autozone.
