ZZP recycling program - 03/28/07 04:37 PM

For those of you with ZZP DPs, and still have the OEM Cat in the OEM DP, then check out the ZZP DP page! From their site:

For a limited time ZZPerformance will be giving out $50 coupon codes for returning your stock downpipe to ZZP for catalytic converter recycling. You don't even have to pay for return shipping! Simply select "prepaid return label" from the drop down and we'll send you a return shipping label with your purchase. Then put your old downpipe (or just the cat) in the package that the new one comes in and drop it off at any UPS shipper. We'll email you a coupon code good for $50 off of your next ZZP purchase! Returned units can be cut up but the OEM converter must be intact. Already bought our downpipe? We'll still offer the $50 coupon code but you'll have to pay for the return shipping. To take advantage send to:

ZZPerformance

Attn: Core Returns

2575 28th st SW

Wyoming MI 49519

For everyone: Include your original order # and email address to send the coupon code. Write down your return tracking number for your records!

Yeah I saw that, and Ed Morad also offered me $40 or $50 for my OEM cat.

Very unlikely anyone would need a whole stock DP. The only part of real value is the cat.

For the debate between the 2.5 and 3: Everyone says 3". The stock exhaust is pretty good for being stock. Most people dont change the whole exhaust unless they have serious mods.

Do you have a SE, GT, or GTP?

I have a 3" and was very satified with the results on my GT

Re: ZZP recycling program - 03/28/07 07:12 PM

IIRC, the best setup for DP is 3" to the cat and 2.5" or 3" after cat, depending on what your HP/mod list is. Stock DP is already 3" just very restrictive compared to an aftermarket. Somebody chime in if I got any of this messed up.

IMHO, you're better off trying to get the DP as a whole to somebody like ED or ZZP, cause not many people want to deal with taking a DP back off to replace with a stocker again

Re: ZZP recycling program - 03/28/07 07:22 PM

The stock DP is right around 2.1 inches in diameter. Much smaller than the 3" DP the vendors sell... thus the reason for upgrading.

That is a great deal. They are doing this because they in turn can sell the guts of the cat. There are precious metals contained inside..

I gutted my cat out but gave the insides to my exhaust guy for a $50 credit on my catback install, so I'm not losing out on anything.

Re: ZZP recycling program - 03/28/07 07:26 PM

so by geting the 3 dp it will fit on the stock exhaust as well as if get headers and cat back later on down the road it will all fit no welding?

Re: ZZP recycling program - 03/28/07 07:27 PM

Yep, just buy the bolt in DP, do not get the shorty if you don't want it welded.

im pretty sure that most Header kits come with a DP.

Go with a 3" DP. if the mod bug bites hard then it will eventually become restrictive with a 2.5" in there

AFAIK, Pacesetters are the only ones that do. TOGs require a separate downpipe and they charge a good sum for it as well.

This is the TOG downpipe. The cut-off looking end connects to your cat, clamped or welded. They're pretty cheap and you can find them used quite often.

I wish I could do this .. :s

I want to keep my OEM downpipe in case I get failed at inspection for having no cat.

The cat I have going on is completely hallow laugh

Hopefully the exhaust won't sound like poo. Might have to throw a glasspak in too.

Just stay legal and get the high flow cat.
