tranny rebuild - 09/22/12 05:31 PM

I am putting a newly rebuilt Tranny in my 2000 GP GTP this weekend. I am also putting a new motor mount in while I have the sub frame dropped down. Any suggestions on any thing else I should replace/upgrade while I have the cradle down.

OK thanks for the info. Also should I use a fluid filled OE motor mount or an all rubber mount. Rock auto has both and their is not big price difference. I have read some bad things about the fluid filled mounts like leaking out as soon as the motors weight sets back on it.

Has anyone ever used the all rubber mount and have any comments on it?

Id use the all rubber if its not much more. Many reported failures of the hydraulic one.

How bad is the rear seal after the transmission is out and any special tools I would need to get the seal out and install the new one? This will be my second Tranny install in this car so I am obviously not scared of a little work LOL

It's right there, , just unbolt the flywheel. Not much different than a front main.

Might need a seal puller or come up with your own way of removing it if you don't want to get or rent one.

Install is easy with a block of wood. Just make sure you have it going in straight and use a block of wood to lay over the seal and hit the wood with the hammer so you don't damage it.

If it is not leaking should I even mess with it?
