"The best way to verify proper operation as commanded
by the pcm is with a scan tool by viewing TCC slippage rpm, TCC duty cycle,
EPC data, and checking any codes and making sure the engine is running
properly and a misfire is not a false sense of a torque converter problem or
shudder."
I just emailed the guy to see if he could tell me what the readings for those parameters should be. I'm noticing slight slippage on highway speeds that didn't used to be there.

can those parameters be scanned with a PT or is it a special scan tool?

PT can scan them. He already responded.

Quote:
Hi Bill, if you can view TCC slippage and Duty % then it will help to see
what is going on. There is also a TCC ON or OFF data line as well if you
have that available. The TCC slippage should be roughly 0-50 rpm all the
time when the torque converter is locked up. Duty % will vary anywhere from
20%-70% while TCC is ON. It will show 0% or 100% depending on your scanner
when TCC is OFF. If it tries to lockup and slippage is constantly above 200
rpm it will dissble TCC operation and throw a trouble code and it will save
in the history of codes in the pcm. A quick test to verify operation is by
going down the highway at crusing speed and lightly apply the brake pedal.
If the rpms go up a few hundered with the brake lightly applied then it is
working. After you release the brake pedal and you should see the rpms drop
back down a few hundred. There are a LOT of causes to make this happen,
check your fuses first to make sure you dont have a blown one as the TCC
solenoid generally gets its power through a purple wire going to your brake
switch under the dash. I hope this helps and let me know what you find or
if you have any other questions.

that's really interesting... I wish there was a way to "subscribe" to or "save" certain threads for easier reference. I want to start looking at all my transmission related settings and scanning those aforementioned parameters with the powertuner and see what I turn up... and if they are consistent with what he's saying.

Yeah I was looking for a site that had engines for sale, and i found that one through google. Anyone know where I might be able to buy a long block l67. I believe a rebuild for my 280,000 mile engine would prolly just be better off with a completely new engine. Starting with a long block. But hte first thing Ive got to do is beef up the tranny. ive got 200 bucks right now. With 200 more every week.

I'd contact Ed about a long block.
