For 35watt HID's, if you want white then get 6000k, if you want blue then go 8000k.

For 55w, they lose a bit of color so 35w 6000k are almost the same color as 55w 8000k.

I had 35w 6000k and now have 55w 8000k and they look the same.

Go with the cheapest ebay kit or go to VVME.com.

white is 4300k, gets bluer as you go higher.

False.

Ive seen 4300 & 5000 in person, they look like stock halogen bulbs but brighter IMO

Ive got HIDs, and Ive loved them since I purchased them back from VVME for 69$ shipped! Wow have the prices dropped.

I have owned them both, there's nothing false about the statement. I stand by it, 6000K is NOT white.

Note that in the pics above, the 5000K bulb appears to be closer to a 6000K.

Those are in projectors, Im not one to argue about this, but in stock capsules in my opinion, 5000/4300 look halogen.

That, I will not disagree with. smile And likewise, I'm not a great person to argue colors. My wife is always telling me I'm wrong about what color things are. wink But, I think the pictures above tell the tale, WRT projectors.

Not false. The Kelvin temperature scale goes something like this http://www.mediacollege.com/lighting/colour/colour-temperature.html.

In order to get white, go with 4300K, anything higher than that will become more blue with increasing kelvins.

I have 5000k in my dads intrepid and they're white. I have 6000k in my 04 and they're slightly blue.

Re: input on hids - 08/05/10 11:59 PM

I'd say go for 6000k or 8000k then. I love my 6000k and my buddy has 10000k's but I think they are way to blue and once you get above 6000k you start to loose brightness.

Also if you go too blue you might have problems with the cops because it's illegal for you to have HID's in a car that wasn't equip with them from the factory.

wouldnt you need to have higher colors if your headlights are blacked out

Re: input on hids - 08/07/10 02:05 AM

The kelvin temp does not scale with light output. Anything above 5k is going to put out less light.
