Key wont remove...

I have a 98 grand prix that has around 125K on it and for some reason or another, after i shut off the car the key will not come out if the ignition. I dont get it. I tried moving it to drive and back to park. It acts like i still have it in gear when its clearly not. any sugestions. is there a sensor or cable that lets you release the key when its in park. Is that broken, or could it be something else?

First off, welcome to the site.

That's a common problem with our Grand Prixs. Mine does it fairly frequently. Your ignition isn't registering that the car is in park.

I tried to find a thread to link you to, but I can't find one. I know there is plenty of them though. I'll keep looking, but I'm sure someone else can find one and get it to you.

I have the same problem, i just press the little button inside the column and call it good to release the key, i notice your from michigan, where exacly is oakland county?
