few questions including .bin - 02/06/08 10:30 PM

Okay, so i'm planning on some big mods over the summer (S2 intercooler, XP cam w/ 105 springs and double roller, Mototron 65 injectors (or is Lucas 42.5 enough) , larger TB and a sub 3" pulley *is there more supporting mods that i'm missing for about a 2.8" pulley if I have 0 KR?*) so my complete list of mods will include those along with pacesetters with hi flow cat and ubend, CAI and PCM, AL 104s and 180 tstat. This is where my question starts basically, I want to get the PCM now but I know I will have to reflash it when I get certain mods done, ie the cam and smaller pulley). So I just wanna know how hard it is to reflash and what i'm looking at for rewriting the .bin file. I really dont want to wait to get the PCM until I have everything because that won't be until like the middle or end of the summer. Is it hard to write proper values and tables or whatever?

you have to get some way to write the bin do you have a powertuner or hpt?

If you have tuning software, you can rewrite stuff as much as you want. You can even change tunes based on weather if you're so inclined. Unless you're having it dyno tuned by someone (or not doing it yourself), you're just going to get a cookie cutter tune anyway. Not very good for performance.

BTW, the Pacesetters have their own downpipe and get rid of the cat/ubend. You'll have to add the cat back in, but that's all.

A double roller isn't required for 105 springs, but if you go with it, you'll need the timing cover machined or go with the crude method of doubling gaskets. Don't forget all the new rocker bolts and so on.

42.5's should be good enough.

deffinately gonna need a tuner

youre gonna want a ported blower and LIM, might need to machine the snout depending on what size pulley. Might wanna think about getting some heads

about the pacesetters:
I know, just thought I'd put it in there to clarify that i was getting them done rather than explaining it later like right now lol but thats okay.

and what are the advantages of a double roller? id rather not get it machined so I might not get it.

Ordonez, should I get both inlet and outlet work? or just outlet? what about EGR? Is this the intake you\'re talking about? and are heads necessary? They're another grand...

And I dont have a tuner nor the 400+ to shell out for one, anyone have one I could use when the time comes?

Double roller: stronger, no tensioner to replace, you have to disable the balance shaft, resulting in more vibration.

in order to really utilize a larger TB you need to get the inlet done

alright, well was that the intake you are referring to?

and by the sounds of it the double roller isn't really worth it.

I referred to the lower intake manifold. if you were talking to me. You can get it from ZZP or you can do it yourself

Not unless you're running 130# springs.
