Engine Coolant Sensor

Engine Coolant Sensor - 06/15/07 02:00 AM

Has anyone else encountered any problems with their "Low Coolant" light flashing on and off? I have checked my levels and they are fine, and even had it checked out by Valvoline and they do not belive there are any leaks. Is it hard to replace the sensor? If that is the problem, how much does a new sensor cost, and where is the best place to buy one?

i dont have a light but my check engine light came on and i took it to auto zone and they said i had a bad coolant temp sensor, that was in november or december and i just drove around and then one day in like march my light just went off. I dont know why but it did. The guy told me that the sensor is in the engine block and that i should have a professional do it, but i dont know where in the block it is

The low coolant sensor is on the left side of the radiator, held in with a clip. Drain some coolant, remove the clip & sensor, and clean it with electronics cleaner: Coolant Level Sensor

Yup, like blackarrow said, sometimes it can foul up with gunk in the Rad. Might be a good idea at the same time to do a complete system flush and refill with new coolent

My light has been on for almost a year now. I have learned to deal with it

You can try to clean it. But if it is old, it may need replacing if you clean it twice and get a light still.

Uumm he means the engine block!
But the sensor I believe is in the head right next to the T-Stat very easy to change.
And as per the Coolant level sensor, if u do not want to replace it/change it just disconnect it and the light will go out
