I recently purchased the "grand prix gt" overlay for my 3rd brake light, and maybe I'm really dumb but I can't figure out how the hell to get the light out so I can put the sticker on! Does anyone know how to remove it?

I actually was putting in speakers a few days ago, and found how to get to the third brake light.
You do have to take out the entire backseat, so be prepared for about 2-3 hours of work just for that, because it just progressively gets harder. There's a diagram for taking the backseat out on the forums somewhere, compliments of KyleGT I think, so search for 'rear speakers' and it should come up with it.
