AL 104s gapped - 04/24/07 09:24 AM

Checked the gap on my AL 104s last night. All .042-.043. Adjusted them accordingly from there. Just to let you all know, and I believe mybad70 said he just got some and said it was at .060.

Go to my post on plug gap. There is some info on different gapping for diff mods. Might help you there. Yah AUTOZONE just charged my credit card $181.80 to rent coil spring compressors. The compressors cost under $50 brand new on the shelf.

i try not to deal with autozone. the one closest to my house hires these dumb college kids, that know nothing about cars. Except for their donk'd 82 cutlass in 26s.
ive been using carquest for awhile.

Stock gap is .060" That's prolly why the guy at the parts house said that...

Not all AZ workers are bad. The ones by me are usually knowledgeable.

I figure gap them on the larger side for better spark, but you don't want it large enough to cause misfires.

mybad70,... you're signature is awesome. But the file size is like 4.1MB. Dialup people would take 45 minutes loading every page you post on!!

I work at AutoZone.

.60" is factory gap. Most people gap colder plugs in the .50" range somewhere. .43" is pretty small.

One, strut compressors don't cost $181 for deposit, it's an error. Two, loan-a-tools are more expensive than most shelf items, but you get it all back when you return it (within 3 months!), so quit whining. The price encourages you to return them so that someone else can use it. If you want to buy one, buy it.

There are dumb employees in any business, but I deal with more dumb customers in a day than you could believe. Most home mechanics are idiots and I've seen a lot of shady crap, so have a little respect for the local parts man (of any company).

No one is whinning. The dude screwed up, that is all. Most of the guys are quite knowledgeable. Just the ones at this particular one all have attitudes.

.53-.55" should be fine with 104/103s.

thanks zuul.
ill work on that tonight lol

Rook......
im not saying all autozone hires are idiots. i live in a college town. the closest one to my house is also a mile from one of the schools. if i go to autozone, i drive across town.
i just hate dealing with ricers, period. seems like a lot of the big name parts stores hire these kids because they read import tuner magazine and can name off some popular parts. carquest for teh win
