ZZP downpipe - 04/05/07 12:52 PM

im having trouble with which one i should get.

im not very good with doing machanical stuff so im gonna have a local exhaust shop put it in.

so im thinking im gonna go with the weld in and save 20 dollars. unless bolt on is better for some other reason besides DIY.

also i live in michigan so im also thinking i should go with the 304?

advice would help a ton cause i want to order it asap! smile

Depends if you want a cat or not. Not sure about emissions. Bolt in is easier, but an exhaust shop can do it either way. Just keep in mind that the shorty doesnt replace the u-bend, which is a HUGE restriction. I would go with the 3" bolt in with cat

Yes, go with the 304, without it the DP will rust out. I have seen this first hand from some local members.

ok, im gonna go with the 304 cat downpipe.

Now if the shop is doing it, should i get the weld in? any advantage with the bolt in if im not doing it? do i need front and back gaskets? its an 02 GTP with 39,000 miles in case that matters.

i always like to replace gaskets. An exhaust shop should be able to do it either way

Get the bolt in like ordonez said, unless you want to have the exhaust shop weld some straight pipe in place of the cat and u-bend. I would go with the 304 bolt in w/ cat for the simplicity of it. Get the new gaskets, or it will leak at the flanges.

I got the 304 3" dp with hf cat and love it. I got part bolt and weld. Get the total bolt on if you can, just be better off installing it for ease.

No emissions testing in Michigan... go without the cat. Get the offroad pipe.
