so i took the maf off and cleaned it with crc maf cleaner.. put it back in after 10min and drove fine for a day, no stuttering.. then drove it today, back to stutters.. it threw an maf or vaf code.. so does this mean i have to get a new maf??

I would say yup, if you cleaned it it worked for a day and then it started again I would ether try cleaning it again or just buy a new one.

Are you running an oiled filter or stock?

I see herc's point with the oil, but I've had an experience where my centrifugal S/C's main oil seal started spewing oil into the intake, and my MAF took it fine. The charge pipe was covered in oil, too, and had no MAF issues. I eventually cleaned it anyway and noticed no change.
