A/C Heater Blower Noise

A/C Heater Blower Noise - 11/05/02 07:48 PM

My 1998 GTP A/C Heater blower is making a loud
annoying noise that is coming from the passenger
side of the car. I dropped by my local auto garage
and talked to the mechanic. He figures it would be
a 3 to 3.5 hour job to replace the motor. Cost of
labour $75.00 (CDN) per hour + 15% tax.

My question is, would I be able to replace this motor myself, and if so can someone email on how to do such a task?

Would I be able to access the motor through
the firewall or is it through the dash? The mechanic said he would probably have to drop my dash to get at the motor.

Thanks in advance for your advice,

I removed, oiled and re-installed the blower motor in my 99 GT in about one hour. All you need to do is remove the trim panel from underneath the dash on the passenger side, and voila -> motor. As I recall there are three bolts holding it in place. One bolt was difficult to get at, but not at all impossible. Be prepared for the discomfort of working on the passenger side floor in a confined space, but at that labour rate, it's worth the aches and pains.

Hey, stick. Thanks. I am getting a little clicking noise on my blower-motor, too, and was afraid of tackling the dash removal. If it's just a trim piece, i'll take a look next time i'm mucking with the car.
