Front end vibration

I have a little vibration problem that I noticed about 2 months ago. I was on some fresh blacktop at about 70 mph when I noticed it. I went to speed up a little and felt a slight vibration coming from the front, couldnt tell if it was one side or not really. I let off the accelerator and it stopped, push on the acelerator and it starts. Put it in neutral and give it a little gas and dont notice anything. I was also noticing some constant droning noise that I thought was wheelbearings. Well I put some new tires on it and that seemed to take care of the droning noise, had some completely worn out z rated tires on it. I still have a little constant vibration, but it feels like a tire out of balance to me. The vibration under acceleration is still there though. I only really notice it at highway speeds, around 55 to about 75 or so. I doesnt seem to do it on take off, or at least I cant tell it if it is. I did a search and came up with CV or motor mounts, does this sound like a good diagnosis?

id say maybe the mounts or the tires are unbalanced

I'm gonna say have your tires balanced first.

Possible culprits in the order I would check:

Alignment
Wheel out of balance
Wheel Bearing
Outer Tie Rod
Ball Joint
Inner Tie Rod

I just had new tires put on it on wednesday and all the same symptoms are there except the constant droning noises. That and a slignt vigration like a tire is out of balance.

Well, Im not sure if it is entirely the problem, but I do have a CV issue. I popped the hood today and there is a line of grease coming from the passenger side CV. It is the one that is directly under the coolant reservoir. Thats how I noticed it, there is a little grease on the reservoir itself and a nice little line on the boot behind it. That being said, how much trouble is it to change myself? Im no mechanic by any means, but I am capable of making any of the minor repairs that are needed. Its just that I have never tackled a challenge like this before. Also while Im at it and it is all apart, I think Im going to go ahead and replace struts and mounts. With making all of thase repairs would it be best to just suck it up and take it to a shop?

If you have basic mechanical skills and hand tools you should be able to do this job and save some $ ,I do suggest buying some sort of shop manual chiltons haynes or something this will become the most important tool in your toolbox ,I have been working on cars for 35years and for every car I own I buy a shop manual.Chico(pops)

thanks for the input. I guess this will give me a reason to go ahead and pick up a manual. its been one of those things that "im going to do" for quite some time now, just never got around to it. Now the question is, Chiltons or Haynes?

Haynes blows the big one. I reccomend picking up a set of the dealer manuals. You can get them on ebay sporadically. They are pretty pricey, but worth every penny

Your right the GM shop manual is the best but even Haynes is better than nothing.Chico(pops)

But You are Right, though...if that's in their Budget, they should go for it...it's more Detailed & really Useful. But, just in case it's Not, maybe...they might want to start with the "Haynes" it offers some Help!

Haynes sucks for our cars. Get the Chilton if you don't want to buy a Helms. I bought it initially and it is way better than the Haynes for our year models.

So You Guys feel that the Chilton maybe more detailed oriented for the GP? Great, I will Trust Your Opinion on that matter, & try to locate one. I too am learning more everyday about this Self-repairing Bit, just from being here on this site.
