I don't go there because a lot of people there have known each other all their lives and talk about personal things and leave you out. As far as having some cool cars there, they do, but a majority of the time its the same ppl and nothing new at CLUBMNgp..

I'm actually a little surprised more people don't use fwd for drag cars cuz most of your weight is sitting on top of your drive wheels equalling better traction off the line. Different story later on though lol

Re: Why a Grandprix he asked? - 08/11/09 05:55 PM

Actually the weight shift on FWD is it's achilles heel. Look at ZZPs TT and you'll see wheelie bars. They aren't there to keep it from flipping but to keep the front wheels planted on the ground on the launch.

As for me. What other full size sedan was available with the performance of the GTP for the cheap price? I mean come on. A full size sedan that runs mid to high 14s out of the dealership.

Oh really? I didn't think the weight would shift that much right off the line

I love the whole package.
S/C stock, tank of an engine, 32 mpg, leather, sweet stereo, roomy, extremely comfortable, plenty of room for all my goods, decently easy to work on, DIC, HUD, what other car can you get all this stuff for less than $7k with 78k miles 2 years ago.

Re: Why a Grandprix he asked? - 08/11/09 06:46 PM

Honestly, I've been a Mustang guy my whole life. I love just about everything about them, except one thing and that's that everybody knows how fast they are and almost everyone has one. It has lost a lot of appeal to me just because everyone thinks they're fast; V6, V8, it doesn't matter. Everyone thinks they'll beat just about anything. Same thing goes for Trans Am's and Camaro's.

Now I only have a GT but my reason for loving my car is that no one thinks it's fast (not saying mine is, talking Grand Prix's in general). Anyone can buy a RWD V8 coupe and go fast, but going fast in a FWD V6 sedan, that's something completely different and that's what appeals to me the most I think.

Personally I'm tired of 350/350 builds. It seems every one has one. When I had my 63 Nova I found a guy that had a 64 Nova straight six 230 N/A that was running high 11s in the 1/4. Now that was a build.

Don't you have to be fast to be a sleeper?

That's great Chico.... There's a guy in one of my parts houses here that has an '05 or something Mustang. He's always bragging about traction control kicking on, or some kid tried to race him.... What ever. After about a year of trying to get him to the track I finally gave up talking cars with him until one day he say's "Some kid tried racing me yesterday" I stopped him before he could continue and said "You know what? The FAST cars are at the track" He hasn't tried telling me any stories since.... laugh

Gotta member here in Portland with a Regal, very stock looking and very quiet. He had it in the low 12's last season. The laughing from the young crowd at PIR while he staged soon turned to priceless reactions when the light turned green.
Dave's reaction was priceless when he would take out a Corvette after the driver sneered at the idea of him wanting to race.
Good times I tell you..... Good times.

I get a few jokes about only having a V6 in the Pontiac club over here, but at the end of the day they only use their V8 T/A's of a weekend or when they can afford fuel. I'm unemployed with a back injury, and my GP is comfortable and a daily driver. It's also plenty fast for all the speed cameras over here! Not been caught out yet though!!!!
