Another battery will not really be a hole lot better.Your best bet is to buy a smaller pully for the alternator. You can buy the pully at www.ZZPerformance.com i think its like $15.Hope that helps you out.

You could run a second battery (I'd use a sealed cell battery like a optima yellow top) or you could install a higher amped alternator. The best would be to install both. Putting an overdrive pulley on the current altinator will only cause premature failure and wont supply the extra oomph your lookin for.

i like the idea of the yellow top but i also heard i would need to hook the new battery up to a cellenoid and then to the starter battery

I think your going to have more problems than its worth. It's going to have to be set up to be totally seperate from your starting system and your other systems. Your only 12v, not 24v, If you hook up this thing and screw it up, you will probably fry your PMC along with your lights. Better off getting a ALT from a COP car with a higher amp rating. They draw more amps than you ever will. This is only my opinion, Its your ride. P"CHOP savewave

A higher amp alt will cost you some hp?

Very easy to put a 2nd batt in the trunk. Just mount the batt in the trunk. Run your power wire for your amp to your 2nd batt 1st then from batt#2 to your amp. You will need to ground your 2nd batt in the trunk somewhere I suggest drilling a hole in your trunk and runnin you ground through the hole and ground it out on the frame. Also if I were you I would put a second fuse block on your power wire close to your 2nd batt. If for some reason your power wire grounds out the front fuse will blow but if you have no fuse by your 2nd batt your power wire will still be hot and may cause fire mad fire=lotsa $

By the way I do have alot of experiance in car audio if you have any more ? just ask

Re: extra battery - 01/23/04 08:35 PM

the amp power wire idea sounds fine but i need to run a relay so the two batteries are both charged separately, to do so i have to hook the isolator up to a true ignition source in the engine bay but don't know where to find one

Re: extra battery - 01/24/04 09:06 AM

if you hook it up like I say your alt will keep both batts charged equally

Re: extra battery - 01/24/04 09:21 AM

why you need them to charge seperatly?
