More Rear Speaker Problems

More Rear Speaker Problems - 05/28/07 01:55 PM

Well I put my replacement speaker for my right rear 6x9 blown speaker in. Unfortunately it sounds like the new one is now also rattling. Is this just dumb luck that Ed made a mistake and my new one is blown or is there a bigger problem? It sounds like the right speaker receives more bass than the left one. Could this actually be a problem with the amp like I originally thought? I just want this problem fixed once and for all. And trust me I am as tired of dealing with this problem as you guys are of listening about it.

i would think if you bought a used stock speaker you could have the same problem as before...mine are starting to sound a little rattly as well but I'm planning on upgrading. I would think almost any decent aftermarket speaker would be better than stock. (I dont have the Bose system)

I am planning on e-mailing him it's just I want to figure what is causing this problem and fix it. If I go aftermarket I will probably go with JBL, I have had good experiences with them. What kind of extra work would be required to install the new speakers? I would probably only do a pair of speakers at a time. Keep in mind I'm a beginner so please have some patience with me and some of my dumb questions.

Head over to www.crutchfield.com click on "Outfit my car" and put in your car's info. You'll get a customized list of components for your car, as well as what's needed to install it all. smile

Installing speakers is ridiculously easy. If you are doing the fronts then remove the inner door panel (2 Bolts right in the center of the door, behind the handle) and one screw which is located at the top of the door towards the rear of the car.

After you have the screws and bolts out just pull on the door lightly. You will probably break the majority of the clips. (You can get a pack of 15 at autozone for like $2. Get 2 packs)

To remove the speaker itself just take the 4 screws out of the mounting bracket and pull the speaker free from the housing. then cut the 2 wires going into the speaker. Crimp the new speaker wires to the old ones and mount the speaker back in the housing.

Then reverse the steps and do the other side laugh

Hey, question. This may sound stupid, but does the 02 GTP come with an amp in it? And if so, where is it? Because someone at work told me that the problem I've been having with my rear speaker is probably amp related, so I need to find it.

If it has more than 4 speakers, check either behind the glove box or in the trunk. Could be it's just time to replace your speakers; electrical gremlins never sleep! hammer

I've just got the two on the front doors, and two under my back window.
