Verify the vent cap is on and not dirty - chances are it either fell off or its clogged.

Headlights shouldn't be 100% airtight.

Re: reseal headlights - 04/12/08 01:45 PM

thats what that hole was there for with a fabric patch on it......i siliconed it on one and its fine and the other patch fell off so i sealed it with clear silicone and a tac and thats the one that foggy....gotta find another patch thats breathable i guess

Re: reseal headlights - 04/12/08 01:59 PM

thats probably why you have condensation they cant breathe.....wait till somone else chimes in but maybe even drill a hole in each one and put a sticker that seals good but lets it breathe too.......wat blacks did you get i just got mine on ebay and theyre awsome

Re: reseal headlights - 04/12/08 02:51 PM

From what I understand...

As the air inside the headlight changes temperature, its ability to hold moisture changes which results in condensation.

It is much harder to vaporize water than it is to condense it, which is why it never goes away.

The vent keeps the pressure equalized so that the moisture never condenses.

Here is the vent on my headlights.

If you really done want to drill a new vent, just throw 1/4 oz of silica into each side. I have a pic of that too - its interestingly cute looking.

Re: reseal headlights - 04/13/08 07:08 PM

Yep that's the breather cap. I actually just discovered that it's been causing moisture problems in my passenger headlight. It's been getting moisture in it after it rains for a while but dries out shortly after. Over the winter I went around the entire lens with clear silicone in an attempt to seal it but water was still getting in. There has also been a small piece of plastic in the light for a while but I never figured out where it came from until I pulled the breather cap off today. The plastic piece chipped off the hole for the breather causing the hole to be bigger than the cap and allowing moisture to get in the light. I'm gonna go around the hole with some silicone and hopefully that fixes the leak. Maybe that might fix your guy's problems too!

Re: reseal headlights - 04/13/08 07:40 PM

idk....i dont understand how thats a breather cap when its a locked seal....i just wanna get rid of the ungodly amounts of moisturte i have in there now...both of my lenses are completely covered in moisture...before it used to just be the corner but now my whole lense is covered.... banghead banghead

Re: reseal headlights - 04/13/08 08:00 PM

Take the cap off and leave your lights on for a bit, that usually gets the moisture out for me. After that work on sealing them up. Try putting silicone around the cap and see if that works. After that take a look at the seal between the bulb and the headlight itself.

Re: reseal headlights - 04/13/08 08:08 PM

lol there is no seal between my bulb and the capsule....never had one...

Re: reseal headlights - 04/13/08 08:13 PM

And you never thought that that might be causing your problems?

Re: reseal headlights - 04/13/08 08:20 PM

never really thought about it because its behind the headlight because the main source of my condensation was at the bottom tip of my capsules....well at least thats where it seemed like it was coming from because there was no condensation anywhere else...
