Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Signal

Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Signal - 04/13/06 09:49 AM

Every now and then I get a 'Low Oil Pressure' message and the system starts this unrelenting bleating sound. First time scared the crap out of me. I quickly shut the engine off. I checked the oil level and it was fine. Started the car up, no alarm. Now whenever the 'Low Oil Pressure' alarm goes off I simply find a convenient moment to shut the engine off and restart the car. I'll usually go a week without it going off again. My fear is to take it to the dealer and have the alarm NEVER go off while it's there (Murphy's law). Anybody else experience this? A bad sensor or what?

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but if you've gotten a message in the past the shop can run a diagnostic computer test and tell why you got the message. I think the computer stores past messages.
