Front door badging for '04's?

Hey guys. I posted this on the '97-'03 forum, so some of you might be seeing this twice. Anyways, were there certain 2004 models that had additional "Grand Prix" badging/lettering on the front doors? I've seen this before on a couple models including brand new, but most of the new ones I've recently seen are without it. My buddy who owns a body shop currently has an '04 in right now for a side impact repair, and it has the lettering on both sides. GM isn't showing any such badging in their listings, but the model may also be too new. My dealer is also curious, as even they have seen this. Does anyone know about this, or know where the lettering can be found for purchase?

im thinkin its a custom from the buyer, or..your friend might wanna check with the original dealer who sold the car.. it might be one of those custom dealer jobbers that he bought, man after that the only thing left is to talk to talk to owner. peace

I got my 04 Comp G last night and on the Front doors, right below the "molding" strip it says

Comp G
competiton group

The Comp G being big and the competition groupd fitting right underneath (in the same 3D badging)

Oh and BTW, I had my car special ordered and was built in March of this year. And I know the first set of GPs did not have tha badging. So maybe it is new. Also on the back of my car on the right side where the GTPs say

mine says

GTP
Competition Group

Yeah, I think most of the comp g's have that badging. But, the car in question is just a GT2, and actually has spelled out "GRAND PRIX" on each front door. One of the badges was even taken off and sent to me to look at. And yes, it is definitely factory lettering as opposed to aftermarket. We're all stumped...

Is it the same lettering that is on the trunk? I suppose those letters would not be hard to come by.

Maybe Pontiac started to do it and said "naw" after a few cars.

Unfortunately, no, they aren't the same ones as on the trunklid. That was my first idea as well, but then I found out that they are quite different.

Hi to the many newcomers here. I've been pretty busy on the "other" Grand Prix site and hadn't checked here in a loooong while.

Anyway, the answer about the door badge is that the "pre-production" models had it and if you were one of the VERY first to get one you got these badges (the GTP on the trunk was much better than the one they went with for the regular production). I am thinking about getting the new CompG door badge and putting in on the trunk in place of the existing GTP Competition Group badge.

I special ordered my GTP Comp-G end of February 2004. And mine has the

GTP
Competition Group

Badging on both front doors and on the right side of the trunk (if facing the trunk). It is the emblem that Cliff Cherry has in his picture. So it is not a pre-production badging..cause my Comp-G is only approx 8-10 weeks old.

The door COMP G. I cannot get a good picture of the door badge but you can see it ok in this picture. The trunk badge is also there.

Yeah, I didn't bother replacing the tires since they were new - of course now I'm stuck with 17's when the tires wear out .

Actually I didn't really want to go too much bigger what with the well-maintained NJ roads .

I wish all the new ones had the GT GTP badges on the side. It is easier to recognize then when Im driving. To see if it is a GTP I have to look at the trunk.

I bought my 2004 Comp G in July of 2003 when they first arrived, and mine doesn't have the front door badging. I have seen them on sale on some websites.

Hey all, New to the site but very interesting on the door markings. I just checked mine and I have none. Only on the back trunk it says GTP Competition Group. My car is silver so I don't know if it has anything to do with the color. I know allot of the after market badges are silver. I did see one site selling the supercharged logo for the doors.

Yeah, I had to put some decals on my doors but am not sure that I won't change them like Cliff did. In fact I have the 2003 Emblems and some dark blue reflecting overlays that I'm thinking of trying.

That aside, I just saw a GP on my dealers lot with the Grand Prix emblem on its side like the pre-production release. I took a picture of it with my phone but I don't know how to get it out of my phnoe yet. I'll post if I figure it out.

Plus I've seen the new door side CompG badges. They look too small for me.

Lastly, I agree, I wish there was a more identifiable way to detect a GTP than looking at the trunk.

How about everyone eating your dust? Thats a good way to tell its a GTP Comp right?
