what do the 04s run in the 1/4 ? - 03/05/04 08:21 PM

anyone run their car stock or otherwise in the 1/4 mile? Motor trend got a 15.0 at 92mph. I thought it should do better than that since it has 20 more HP than the 97-03.

anyone run one yet.
Just curious.

Was the one tested a Comp G? This would make a difference; the Comp G has a different axle ratio available, believe it or not. There is a noiceable acceleration difference between the two.

Gotta 04 gt1 and it G-teched a 15.53 in the quarter mile. Not sure how accurate that is but maybe gives an idea what the compg should run.

The 04s are slower out of the box then the 97-03s due to torque management.

If you truly want a quicker GP, I expect (from what I have read) that the GXP will be in the low 14 second range - V8's HP / TQ = 303 / 323 - and the trans. upgraded to avoid the 'torque management' mentioned. Etc.

Job1 is scheduled for later this month.

Mine ran an low 15 with a LOT of wheel spin.. I had a 2004 CompG - Loaded; Sunroof, side airbags...etc...

I bet on a good day she could have ran a best of 14.8 or .9 - but no better.

I will agree here -- the new GP GXP should be a mid-low 14 second car - BUT! I also expect any
variance of HP will result in premature lower motor or Tranny failure - now that said - I bet the GXP will be a good high 13 contender with no problems! hammer

"BUT! I also expect any

Not sure exactly what you mean here?

With a substantially upgraded / 'beefed up' version of the trans. to deal with the added (stock) torque, are you still concerned about the trans. longevity? Compared to many running something near these HP / TQ numbers with a 'stock' trans. – or perhaps with a trans. cooler??

And by ‘lower motor . . failure’ what are you referring to here RE: the LS4 V8?

Thanks,
