Cabin Air Filter - Service Manual

Cabin Air Filter - Service Manual - 07/22/07 10:15 PM

Hi all,

I'm a new member here but have owned Grand Prix GTPs for the last 8 years and love them! I recently learned that like many new cars my 2005 Grand Prix GTP has a Cabin Air filter that should be periodically replaced to keep the cabin air clean AND to allow the environmental system to run efficiently.

I would like to replace mine, but can't find the exact location of the filter or the procedure to replace the filter anywhere after countless hours of searching on the net and searching around the car. I don't want to just randomly unscrew things trying to locate it.

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could send me the procedure with illustrations or copy and send me the appropriate pages from a service manual if you have one.

Thanks very much in advance!

I think I actually saw this in the owner's manual!! I have an 07 GXP. The filter is located outside the cabin, underneath the passenger side windshield wiper. I think you need to run your wipers midway, and you can access the panel that covers the filter. Check your manual to be certain.

Hey man,

Thanks for the tip. I'd searched through everything I could think of in the index of the owners manual filters, maintenance schedule, etc. and just couldn't find it anywhere ... but based on your comment I went back to the book and just paged through it page by page and ended up finding the procedure. IMHO they left out a couple of critical steps that makes it easy ... but now that I know how to do it the next time will be a snap.

Thanks again!

I had wondered where my cabin filter was for a long while, then I went to jiffy lube to get all my fluids changed and they came to me telling me I had no cabin air filter lol. So I watched them install it and yes its up by the windsheild wipers on the passenger side. There a good thing to have.

Here are some pics of exactly where its at in an 06 GXP. I'm not good with fixing cars and took me 5 mins to replace and get everything back to where I started.

All you need is a regular size flat head screw driver. Use it to pop off the retaining clip that is right underneath the passenger side wiper. Take off the windshield wiper hoze and peel back the plastic piece that you popped the retaining clip off of. After you peel it back you cant miss it.
